The present secretary of LAFMA, Lloyd Willmann, with one less Carp taken from the Albert River.
The original fishing club began in early 1990's and was known as the Rathdowney Hotel Social Fishing Club. In 2002 the club became incorporated under the name of Carpbusters with Jim and Rose Walsh as President and Secretary respectively and John Hardke as Treasurer. This small group of concerned local anglers based in the Rathdowney and Beaudesert area where getting more and more aware of the local streams and rivers where being over run by Carp. It was rare to catch any native species such as the Australian Bass, one of Australians most prize sport fish and even rarer or near on impossible to catch a Mary River Cod. By holding Carp busting Competitions the group was extremely successful in removing more than 10 tonne of Carp over the following years.
Keep checking this web page for Carp competitions in the dam. Money raised through our new carp buster competitions will be used to purchase Australian Bass and Mary River Cod for release into Wyaralong Dam.
